Savvy choices.
First visit? Stay in City Centre / Sidi Belyout.
For a first visit, this is the least compromised base: it is central, walkable to the Old Medina and Casa Port, connected by tram, and has the broadest mix of hotels, restaurants and practical taxi access to Hassan II Mosque and the Corniche. Casablanca’s sights are dispersed, so a central transport-friendly base beats a scenic but isolated one.
Avoid sleeping near Immediate blocks around Casa Voyageurs station, Old Medina after dark, Derb Sultan, Airport hotel zone. They are excellent for train logistics but noisy, traffic-heavy and weak for evening wandering; some very cheap nearby lodging has a notably poor reputation.
