First visit? Stay in International Drive Convention Center.
For a first visit that includes more than one resort, this is Orlando’s most forgiving compromise: abundant hotels and food, access along International Drive, and shorter road trips to Universal and SeaWorld than from Disney-side lodging. It is not charming, and Orlando still rewards a car or rideshare, but it creates the fewest one-resort-only commitments.

Avoid sleeping near Orange Blossom Trail north of Sand Lake Road, Parramore, especially the less active blocks west of downtown, Pine Hills around Silver Star Road and Pine Hills Road, The isolated stretches of US-192 and International Drive far from a specific park, restaurant cluster or trolley stop. This is not a visitor-friendly resort corridor; Wikivoyage specifically flags drug- and prostitution-related crime here. Choose a hotel elsewhere rather than saving a little on a roadside rate.
