Morant Bay
Base · 1–5 days
The parish’s useful base for supplies, transport and the essential Paul Bogle story. See the courthouse ruins, statue and old fort for the clearest on-the-ground account of the 1865 rebellion.
Lyssons and Prospect
Short stop · 0.5 days
The straightforward beach add-on east of Morant Bay. Lyssons Beach has a sheltered shallow cove, parking and changing facilities—more practical than glamorous, which is exactly its advantage here.
Bath and Bath Botanical Gardens
Base · 1–3 days
Come for Bath Fountain’s hot-and-cold mineral water, then pair it with one of the Caribbean’s oldest botanical gardens. Stay overnight if you want the springs to feel restorative rather than like a rushed excursion.
Seaforth, Golden Grove and Hillside
Base · 1–2 days
The agricultural interior is the route to Reggae Falls, a forceful cascade over an old hydro structure with river wading and a local-weekend atmosphere. It needs a driver or capable rental car; this is rougher and more rewarding than a manicured waterfall park.
Port Morant and Morant Point
Short stop · 0.5–1 days
Take the slow eastern coastal drive for fishing-settlement life, open Atlantic views and the exterior of Morant Point Lighthouse at mainland Jamaica’s eastern tip. Go for the atmosphere, not a packed list of attractions.
Stony Gut and Spring Garden
Short stop · 0.5 days
This is Paul Bogle’s rural home territory and the necessary counterpoint to Morant Bay’s courthouse history. Visit with a knowledgeable local guide or driver, and treat it as a living community rather than a self-guided monument.
Yallahs and White Horses
Short stop · 0.5 days
The western gateway from Kingston is best used for roadside food, produce stops and a first look at Saint Thomas’s working coastal rhythm. It is a useful break on the A4, not a place to base yourself.
Hagley Gap and Cunha Cunha Pass
Base · 1–2 days
Saint Thomas’s Blue Mountain edge offers cooler air, coffee-country farms, cloud-forest views and rustic mountain stays. Make the effort only if mountain quiet, birding or hiking matters more to you than easy coastal logistics.
Essential Saint Thomas long weekend
3-4 daysMorant Bay (1-1.5 days) → Lyssons and Prospect (Half day) → Port Morant and Morant Point (Half day) → Bath and Bath Botanical Gardens (1 day)
The clean first-timer route: base in Morant Bay, do the Paul Bogle history properly, take the easy beach afternoon at Lyssons, then choose a slow east-coast drive and a Bath soak. Do not add Reggae Falls unless you are happy replacing downtime with rough-road logistics.

6 daysMorant Bay (2 days) → Yallahs and White Horses (Half day) → Lyssons and Prospect (Half day) → Port Morant and Morant Point (1 day) → Bath and Bath Botanical Gardens (2 days)
For travelers who want the parish to feel like a place rather than a checklist. Use Morant Bay for history and practicalities, make roadside stops on the Kingston side, then give Bath two full days so the mineral spring is a stay rather than a rushed detour.

The strongest active route for travelers with a driver or capable rental car. It joins the Morant Bay Rebellion story to Stony Gut, gives Reggae Falls its own day, and ends with a deliberately brief mountain overnight. Add another night in Hagley Gap if hiking, birding or coffee visits are the point.
Plan this routeDeep, slow Saint Thomas
12 daysMorant Bay (5 days) → Bath and Bath Botanical Gardens (3 days) → Seaforth, Golden Grove and Hillside (2 days) → Hagley Gap and Cunha Cunha Pass (2 days)
For repeat Jamaica visitors willing to stay inside the parish and accept rain delays, long rural transfers and quiet days. Morant Bay handles the history and coast, Bath slows the pace, Seaforth makes Reggae Falls practical, and Hagley Gap provides a properly different mountain finish. Pre-book rooms and inter-base transport.
