Tickets currently go on sale roughly two months ahead. Buy promptly when your date enters that window, particularly for weekends, school holidays, first/last slots, and tower visits.
Free entry: Free basic admission for children under 11, people with disabilities and one companion; children under 3 need no ticket, while ages 3–15 need a ticket and must be accompanied by an adult. Disability documentation is required. Free worship entry is available only for Mass, not sightseeing: Sunday and holy days at 09:00, and Saturday international evening Mass at 20:00, capacity permitting. Other restricted free categories and Barcelona-resident discounts require documentation and, in several cases, applying at least 48 hours ahead.
Sold out? First, repeatedly check the official website/app and official QR-code purchase points around the basilica for newly released capacity; same-day inventory is possible but not dependable. If no official slot appears, book a legitimate guided tour that explicitly includes admission through a recognized marketplace such as GetYourGuide or Viator, verifying the date, language, meeting point, tower inclusion, cancellation terms, and whether official-ticket collection is required. Do not buy from touts outside the basilica; every entrant's nominative ticket must match their photo ID.
